HOLIDAY COTTAGE
Modicarte extend their hospitality and offer their accommodation to all those who wish to spend their holidays in Sicily, in Modica, in a typical corner of the Modica countryside. N.B.: guests’ pets are also very welcome.
ARTS & CRAFTS COURSES
Modicarte also offers, in certain periods, arts and crafts courses where you can learn or perfect the techniques of engraving or the art of pottery and discover one of Sicily’s most important traditions, clay modelling, which has been revived here.
RESTAURANT
The various traditions of the Mediterranean come together here in perfect harmony as the setting is also ideal for the appreciation of Sicilian wines and food. Modicarte has, in fact, a restaurant where you can sample, amongst other culinary delights, the typical, traditional dishes of Modica.

LOCATION
Modicarte’s new holiday and cultural centre is furnished in a simple, modern style, and is situated on a hillside, 20 km from the sea, with a panoramic view over the city of Modica and the Hyblean mountains.
The design of the complex exploits the natural contours of the 4000m2 of surrounding land, with the buildings arranged on a series of terraces cut into the hillside and enclosed by dry-stone walls, typical features of the Modica countryside, and complemented by outdoor areas shaded by hackberry and carob trees.
CULTURAL BACKGROUND
The “Modicarte” project was inspired by the cultural traditions and heritage of Modica and the Noto Valley: a holiday centre where nature and leisure, activity and relaxation, companionship and solitude, art and gastronomy, complement each other naturally.
Modicarte is situated at the centre of a vast territory in south-east Sicily, where you can also find the splendid Baroque architectural masterpieces of the Noto Valley, protected by UNESCO. Modica is just 3kms away from the Modicarte holiday centre and Ragusa Ibla, Scicli, Comiso, Noto, Siracusa and Catania are also easily accessible. Only 4kms away are the fascinating grottoes of Cava d’Ispica, which consist of trogloditic habitations, little sanctuaries and necropoli, dating back to around 2000 BC.
